About Manapla

officially the Municipality of Manapla, is a 2nd class municipality located in the North province of Negros Occidental, Region 6, Philippines. Manapla is about an hour trip from Bacolod City. From Bacolod North Terminal, take any bus going to San Carlos, and it will surely pass by Manapla.

The name Manapla is derived from Manang Pula, popular name of Crispula Gallo, the beautiful and generous wife of Bernardo, the first Capitan of the town. Manang Pula Festival is a tribute to the town’s famous woman of substance and a celebration of the town’s Patronal Saint, San Roque, which is held every August 16.  Later, the Manang Pula as name of the town was shortened to Manapla, the name carried on until now. The festival is characterized by street and dance drama competitions. It also showcase the town’s famous delicacies—the puto and pinasugbo.
